Chapter 1 of “A View from the Hill”: all about the sheer visual impact of the area.

We are privileged to live in the largest area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in South East England, The North Wessex Downs. The foreword to the AONB Management Plan states: “With their chalk rivers and streams, woodlands and copses, picturesque villages and towns, and ancient archaeological heritage, the North Wessex Downs provide a welcome serenity for all who live, work or visit in an increasingly busy and pressured southern England”. Wendy develops this theme to provide the perfect opening chapter to “A View from the Hill”.
